The Casino at the Empire, Venue of the WSOPE
The Casino at the Empire is the latest London based acquisition of the current owners of the WSOP brand, Harrah’s Entertainment, and it has played host to the European leg of the WSOP since its inception in 2007.
The Casino was completed just prior to the WSOPE kick-off and exudes elegance, opulence and trendy minimalism all at the same time. It is situated overlooking one of the more important landmarks of the City of London, Leicester Square and is easily accessed by the underground. London is one of the major tourist hubs in the world and consequently has a dynamic range of accommodation in and around the city to suit all pockets and the area surrounding Leicester Square is no exception, so finding accommodation close to the venue will not be difficult.
Although the main attraction is the casino itself, there are a number of funky in-house bars and great restaurants that offer a range of ‘wild’ entertainment. The signature restaurant, Flame, offers contemporary cuisine but if the mood demands a slightly more relaxed environment, FuLuShou, is just the place - it is a casual and more affordable noodle bar oozing Asian elegance.
An Array of Games for your Pleasure
The opulent gaming area is situated on the ground floor and offers a range of electronic slots as well as the tried and tested favourites of the tables – Roulette, Black jack, Punto Banco and Three Card Poker. It is the Face to Face private poker room that will arguably see the most action, as apart from hosting the WSOPE, there are weekly poker tournaments, free poker lessons by seasoned professional dealers and the Summer Poker Festival due to run from 30 July – 3 August this year!
Should the cards begin to pall, there are also a number of super-cool bars and lounges that offer an extensive range of alcoholic attractions. The Vapor Bar is a more conventional, yet elegant place to relax, whereas the Icon Bar, a candle-lit cocktail bar, is clearly for the more romantic as it sports glittering chandeliers, antique wallpaper and has the feel of a French boudoir. If the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas is to your liking, never fear, the Shadow Bar, in all its gory glory, will appeal.
